Client: Women In Film & TV Toronto (WIFT+ Toronto)

Women in Film & TV Toronto (WIFT+ Toronto) is a member-based, non-profit organization with a mandate to educate, engage, and empower its members at all stages of their careers in the screen-based media industry. We redesigned and developed the WIFT+ Toronto website to simplify the navigational architecture and content while maintaining a consistent brand position.

Challenges:

  • Navigational challenges due to the complex site map and large amount of content and information
  • Users felt confusion when searching for information and felt that the user experience was not seamless
  • Lack of accessibility on the website

Outcomes:

  • Simplified the site architecture, making information to be more easily found and more easily digestible
  • Created a more user-friendly user experience for the targeted WIFT+ Toronto audience
  • Simplified backend for staff to easily manage the CMS system independently.
  • Increased accessibility to pass WCAG 2.0 standards

Site Maps

We modified the sitemap to simplify the information architecture, making it easier for users to navigate and find their desired information, whether it be about how to sign up for a membership or general information about WIFT+ Toronto events.

User Flows

User flows were created for three different goals that users have for being on the website. Based on our discovery session, we pinpointed the website's pain points, which helped establish our understanding of user goals and motivations on the WIFT+ Toronto website. We created user flows for the current and ideal journeys relevant to users, depending on the different goals we outlined (ex. membership sign up).
