Empowered By Women: A Personal Connection to Women’s History Month

At Innovate By Day, we proudly stand as a women-led business where empowerment, storytelling, and innovation are at the heart of everything we do.  It’s hard to imagine where we would be today if it weren’t for the support we’ve received along the way. For us, Women's History Month is the perfect time to reflect on the incredible women who have significantly influenced and shaped the people around them. During this time, we are reminded to commemorate women and girls from our past and present who have contributed to a better future.

What does Women's History Month mean to you?

Throughout our lives, we encounter people who leave a lasting imprint on our hearts and minds, and for me (Jessica), that is the women in my life. This month, I am getting a little personal as I tell you about the women in my life and how they have contributed to my journey in countless ways, including family members, friends, mentors, and colleagues.

My family has been a major part of my life and what I attribute to who I am. My mom's constant support and kindness taught me compassion and the value of hard work. With her unimaginable empathy and patience, my sister has taught me that life is never that serious. My grandma, the woman who taught me how to speak Spanish before English and how to find the best second-hand deals, has taught me how important it is to explore the world. These women have and continue to shape how I grow and evolve as a woman.

Beyond family, I have been fortunate to have incredible female friendships. From friendships that go back nine years to newly found ones, they have supported my dreams and aspirations and encouraged me to strive for the stars. While individually, I continue to learn so much from them all, they have collectively taught me how to understand, listen, and offer solace without judgment. With that, I am so grateful for my female friendships.

In my professional life, I have had the privilege of working alongside talented and accomplished women. Their guidance, expertise, and unwavering encouragement have been an incredible part of my journey. While only working in my role at IBD for a few months now, the female leaders at IBD specifically inspire me with their visions, determination, and the remarkable synergy they bring to the table. Their leadership isn't just about achieving success; it's about paving the way for future generations of women.

So, what does Women's History Month mean to me? It means acknowledging the women in my life as a constant reminder of the influence of women and what a powerful force we are; for that, I am eternally grateful for their presence in my life.

This month, while we honour the amazing women in our lives, let's also recognize the impact women continue to have on society. Thank you to the women who have helped shape my life and for what you have taught me.
