The Canadian Screen Awards honours the best Canadian talent in the areas of film, television and screen-based digital. Multi-award galas and events run throughout Canadian Screen Week, culminating in the live televised Canadian Screen Awards, broadcast nationally on CBC.

In collaboration with the Academy of Canadian Cinema and Television and CBC Arts, Innovate By Day launched the new Academy brand online with a dynamic digital project which consisted of the Fan’s choice Award, five digital video series, a live digital pre-show, a robust social media campaign, and online advertising. The campaign not only highlighted Canadian on-screen talent of all mediums and genres, but also offered fans from the across the country access to their favourite stars on their preferred platform.

Content and messaging encouraged continuous audience activation from the nomination breakfast into Canadian Screen Week tying everything into the broadcast on March 12, 2017. The hashtag #CDNScreenAwards trended six times throught the campaign. The engagement across all the Academy’s social accounts increased exponentially and the website doubled in pageviews as compared to the previous year.

Innovate by Day also co-produced the inaugural live digital preshow Academy Talks: Live from the Red Carpet which aired on the CBC Arts Facebook and Youtube pages. The pre-show, which ran directly into the online broadcast of the 2017 Canadian Screen Awards gave fans an insider look into the exclusive Red Carpet for the first time ever.
