At Innovate By Day we develop, create, and implement digital media content and strategy for the Canadian Arts and Entertainment industry including digital, television for broadcast and film. We run multifaceted campaigns, building and managing online communities. Our goal is to give audiences more of what they want – to offer them compelling reasons to return, share, and advocate for their favourite shows, brands and films.

We are currently looking to hire an In-House Video Editor and Shooter in Toronto on a full-time contract to start immediately. The contract will be a permanent full-time position. The ideal candidate will be deeply knowledgeable of the latest entertainment trends, hyper-engaged on major social media platforms, and equal parts creative and organized.

Key Responsibilities
• Working with the Senior Editor and Assistant Editor to manage the overall strategy of daily content;
• Working closely with the larger team to plan activities, including the production and creation of engaging, informative and entertaining video content for all social media platforms, including but not limited to Facebook, Instagram, YouTube and Twitter;
• Editing existing material into short optimized videos (10 seconds – 5 minutes) for all digital media, including client websites and social media platforms;
• Editing assistance with other broadcast and non-broadcast content material as required, working closely with the Video Department Team;
• Live event capturing with a Sony PXW-Z150 camera;
• Basic audio recording (interview set ups, proper mic placement, etc.);
• Interview lighting set-ups;
• Ability to improvise and recalculate plans on the fly;
• Staying informed on trending topics and emerging news in association with the current projects;
• Creating compelling videos that include elements such as kinetic text, simple motion graphics and subtitling (SRT files)
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively

• Graduate of Film Studies/Production/Television & Communications Program from College or University
• 2-3 years of relevant video editing experience
• 1-2 years of experience with Final Cut Pro X
• After Effects or Motion 5 Experience is a plus
• Colour Correction experience is a plus
• Excellent people skills
• Knowledge of the Sony PXW-Z150 camera is a plus
• Experience in live event capturing is a plus (single or multi-camera)
• Knowledge of basic audio recording (Interview set ups, proper mic placement, etc.)
• Experience with Interview lighting
Knowledge of the film, television and/or digital media industries is a plus.
• Ability to improvise and recalculate plans on the fly
• Ability to collaborate in an environment with quick turn-around
• Ability to take initiative
• Ability to take direction well
• Exceptional organizational skills
• Exceptional attention to detail for logging & assigning roles to footage
• Experience prepping and logging footage in Final Cut Pro X
